Brazilian Waxing: Here’s everything you ever wanted to know but were too afraid to ask28 May 2019
Throw away your razor because with every wax, hair grows back a little bit slower and a little bit finer. That, my friends, is the magic of waxing.
We’re always sad to see summer leave, except for one tiny detail: waxing. For those of us who choose to remove hair with this less-than-pleasant method, the fall and winter months are typically a welcome break from that monthly riiiiiiiiiiiip. Here’s everything you ever wanted to know but were too afraid to ask…
What is hot or hard waxing? Wax is directly applied to the kin. It hardens when it cooled, allowing the easy removal by the therapist without the aid of strips. This waxing method is very beneficial to people who have sensitive skin as it does not remove or grip the skin. For sensitive areas around the Bikini, it is best to use hot wax as pain is greatly reduced and tearing of the delicate skin is unlikely. Book your first here!
Should I trim/shave my hair before I get waxed? No, you should not. The longer the hair, the better the wax will grab it and the smoother your results will be.
Is it true that I can get injuries and tear with Brazilian waxing? Tearing of the delicate vulva area only happens if strip wax is used on the same spot for more than 3 times, or if the therapist is inexperienced and negligent. With HOT waxes, this is highly unlikely, as skin is not pulled by the wax.
Will I be sore and unable to walk normally afterwards? No, you will be walking as per normal. Brazilian waxing causes only instantaneous pain the moment the wax is being pulled. The pain will not linger on especially if hot wax is used. You should not experience any soar or discomfort thereafter. Some redness may occur with people with sensitivity or very thick hair, but this should go away after a few hours.
Ingrown Hairs. This depends on the individual. Compared to shaving, waxing reduces ingrown hair significantly. Ingrown hair can be prevented by regular exfoliation, starting from 3 days after waxing. There are also ingrown hair serums that will help to significantly reduce ingrown hair. Try Boudoir Smooth freedom lotion for serious ingrowns which reduces ingrown hair, retards hair growth and makes hair growth finer.
I have been shaving for years but decided to try waxing a few days ago. However, I noticed that I already have some stubby re-growths. I had the impression that waxing gives you longer hair-free periods. The stubbles are from the shaving before, not the waxing done only a few days ago. Try waiting at least a month to 6 weeks, or until all your hair has grown out before your next waxing session. This way, all your hair, short and long, will be waxed together, ensuring a longer hair-free period.
Sensitivity. Everyone’s skin is different so everyone’s sensitivity is different. Whoever does your waxing will probably tell you this when they first start working on you. They deal with a lot of clients, so they’ve pretty much seen it all. Some people who have very sensitive skin stay irritated and have a kind of stinging sensation for about a day after the waxing.
Skin type. If you have lighter skin, you are more likely to show bumps (like razor bumps) when you get waxed. These go away after the skin has had a chance to relax post-wax. You are also more likely to show redness if you have lighter skin, but again, it will fade.
Relax into it. Like all pain, Brazilian waxing becomes easier to deal with if you just relax into it. Yes, it’s going to hurt, but it doesn’t have to hurt so bad. Even though it’s your body’s natural reaction, don’t tense up when you’re waiting for the wax to be pulled off. Breathe and lay back.
Consider it “me time.” It may not be the most fun “me time” in the world, but it’s still “me time” nonetheless. It’s time you’re spending on grooming and beautifying yourself. No one else is there to bother you (except for the woman who is tearing the wax off of your vagina) and it’s time for you to just stay in your little room and breathe.
Regular waxing is better than sporadic waxing. Most people who try out waxing, especially Brazilian waxing, find this to be true. If you wax regularly rather than just every once in a while or waxing sometimes and shaving sometimes, it tends to be better and feels better for you. Your body gets adjusted to the wax and starts to know what to expect. If you keep up with it regularly, the quality of your hair starts to change and you are less likely to get ingrown hairs.
Feeling sexier. We know we’ve made getting a Brazilian sound like heaps of fun and excitement and you’re just dying to get one! Except not at all. But aside from all the weird, awkward, painful stuff about getting a Brazilian, there are some benefits we haven’t talked about other than hair growth rates. A lot of women get Brazilians because it makes them feel sexier! Whatever makes you feel sexy is worth it. Get sexy here!
Up your confidence. The sexier you feel, the more confident you feel, and people will definitely pick up on that. You may have a significant other that digs the Brazilian look or you may be flying solo. Whatever your romantic life is looking like right now, at least you can strut your stuff with confidence.
What do I have to take note after waxing? As your pore will be opened after waxing, we discourage swimming, steam bath, sauna and jacuzzi for 24hrs thereafter. By exposing yourself to public water, you may be exposing yourself to bacteria that may lead to infection of the hair roots. For proper aftercare, we recommend Boudoir Sooth lotion which will help to heal open pores, prevents infection and stops itching.
